Day 72 - The Plateau

 The dreaded Plateau.

I just hit it, earlier than I would've thought. It seems with the quick weight loss (I've been intermittent fasting, cutting out snacks and exercising) some extra effort is needed at this point. However, I just came across an article that states Cheat Days are important! Ah-ha! Of course I immediately went to that solution.

The important thing for my health journey is strength and endurance, so the weight loss is secondary - but when you see dramatic changes in your body, your mind automatically wants to keep going in the same direction. This is about a long haul, not short-term benefits (I keep reminding myself).

I'm not a calorie counter. It's a hassle and something I don't want to do, but I can assume that certain foods and portions are loaded with calories, so I consider this now. In the past, I didn't even think about it and over time larger portions and seconds of a particularly yummy meal became habit.

I'm also considering that my metabolism has adjusted and so I also need to adjust, trying to figure out how to do that. Anyway, change is good, so I'll see what happens and find out what works and what doesn't.

The whole time gaining weight over the last 15 years, I didn't notice the plateaus, so why start now? I need to remind myself that my attitude of going with the flow and not worrying much about anything - including food - has been a blessing, and moving forward I will not worry about hitting plateaus and continue to build the life I love. There is so much to create and be, ideal weight is low on the list, but it's still on there!

In progress...
